Can we keep all discussions about any of the lyrics on this thread please
so that we can have the actual listings for the lyrics only!
    :)

All changes will be transferred as required.

I think it will give a more orderly appearance to people who are browsing for lyrics ;)

    Oooops! Sorry!
I just noticed this thread, and I'm afraid that I have posted some suggestion on another thread! -
It won't happen again!

    Tut! Tut! Naughty, naughty!

Don't worry Julia, I will move the messages over to this thread.
I have only just put this thread on here because I thought it
would make the lists look tidier - do you agree?

(When I've finished doing DVD copy I have to send to somebody  )

.............and WOW it will take me ages to catch up with so many corrections
and/or changes but I will do it all in time.

OOps, sorry, Jean -- I've been answering Julia's queries on the same threads where she posted them. Please move mine too -- it won't happen again, I promise.

But please note that I changed the lyrics on "You Won't Get Me". I also added lyrics for Poor Jimmy on Savaloy Dip, made a suggestion for Willie the Queen, and suggested another change for "Everything But Love" on Liberty.

As one who lives in Sunderland and therefore has firsthand knowledge of the dialect I can assure you that people here do say 'thunk' as a past tense of 'think' (as opposed to thought) but it's usually done in a joky kind of way.

Also the pronunciation of heart here is 'hourt' as in 'bought' but with a slight split in the syllabul make it into two - 'hou-ert'. They do that with a lot of words.

And if you're talking about word that appear in the Oxford English dictionary, well I think that would apply to a good 90% of Mackam or Geordie words. Take a look at this http://members.tripod.com/newcastleupontyne/geordie.html

Just to settle the queries, I just found these lyrics on a search:

    My name is Geordie Mcintyre.
And the bairns don't even have a fire.
And the wife said Geordie go to London town.
And if they don't give us half a chance.
Don't even give us a second glance.
Then Geordie with my blessings burn them down.

Come on you Geordie boys they fill your heart with joy.
There marching for there freedom now.
Come on follow the Jarra lads they make your heart feel glad.
They singing now yes now is the hour.

My name is little Chrissy Wright
And I know whats wrong and I know whats right.
And the wife said Chrissy go to London town.
And if they won't give us a couple of bob.
Won't even give you a decent job.
Then Chrissy with my blessings burn them down.

    Twice:
I can see them, I can feel them, I can hear them.
As if they were here today.

Come on, boys, come on, hear the call now.
Come on, boys come on, hear the call now.

Note Jean, on changing "Everything But Love" (which YOU posted, so you're the one who'll have to change it), that the second verse's sixth line should be "You'll kick off your shoes, I'll keep on my hat."

It can't be "kip on my bed" because it's HER flat. Also, "hat" rhymes with "flat." And it makes sense that he'd keep his hat on, ready to run out the door at any moment! (Not ALAN, of course, just the character...).
