I have always wondered who the sax player was on this tour as he was excellent. When I went to see Alan again about 3 years later he had changed his band again.
Anyone know who this sax player was please.
Hi, I've been around foa while on this forum, and now realise that I haven't introduced myself
My passions are live music and motorcycling, I've met many fascinating people through both interests, some of whom have become very good friends over the years.
Alan - well, I remember him back in the 60s (yes, I am that old!), and enjoyed his music then ... and even more so now.
Other musicians that I like (in no particular order!) are Mike Sanchez, Jeff Beck, Ben Waters, Rodney Crowell, Albert Lee and Hogan's Heroes, Chris Rea, Chris Farlowe, Norman Beaker, Paloma Faith, Imelda May, Paolo Nutini, Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, Georgie Fame, Seth Lakeman, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Miller Anderson .... so quite a mixture really!
Here's a pic taken last year of me with Howie and Kim (you may have seen them with Alan on the 'Flamingo' tour)

Look forward to seeing anyone from here at a gig

I just received a very sad call this morning from a friend of the family. The man who first greeted my father when he came to France in the early '80's, Jacques de Villemandy, died two days ago. We sent him a new year's letter a week ago; it got there Tuesday, but has he seen it before his death, we don't know. He will be deeply regretted by all who knew him. He was an erudite in hunting and taxidermy, as well as history and politics. I have wonderful memories of hunting expeditions that I had in his company when I was nine.

His daughters are now facing a terrible problem. Because at the age of 50 they have no jobs, they can't afford to pay the property taxes for the house. I say house, but it's a manor, and a magnificent one I had the opprotunity to visit eight years ago.
The manor called Le Grand Villiers, located by Danger Saint Romain, which was the property of monsieur de Villemandy and his wife, will be set up for sale shortly.

I made this announcement in the hopes of helping my two friends Genviève and Marie, so asked to pass the word; unfortunately, I can't afford to take the manor off their hands myself and keep it until they could raise a strong financial something.
If anyone here is interested in a manor out in provincial France, please let me know. This is a very serious issue and I beg you to take it as such. It would be a tragedy if such a place as le Grand Villiers fell into careless hands.

I just e-mailed the friend who was supposed to join me on the great trip to England for four or three days at the end of April, something we'd been talking about for over a year- she writes back, saying she never even mentionned it to her family. Now, I can understand that parents can be a little worried about their young daughters going alone to a foreign country- even my own Dad is keeping himself from blanching as we talk about it.

Told him about my frustation, and he himself didn't know that when I first told him about my project three months ago, he didn't realize how dead serious I was about it. Now he's taking it into consideration, and he understands: like him, travelling is part of my ethos. I'm one of those people who's ready to get up and go. And above all, like many people on here I'm sure (we're all willing to run over to England or some other place, especially if an authentic AP concert is included), I really hate disorganized people.

I've been planning on this all year long. My baccalauréat is coming up in June, and sadly I'll be moving back to the States for my college years, which means I won't be able to travel. So, whether people like it or not, I'm going to buy two tickets for the Edmonton show next May, whether I show up or not. And if I do, well ladies, if anyone wants a seat, you're more than welcome to join. I'm not going to let anything get in the way of my having fun, and that's final.

I think that if I'll be going to the US for college next year (ah, it'll be hard moving...) if I'm going to raise a little money, I'll need a side job. I highly doubt my writing would earn me anything, in fact I make no illusions about that. But if I want to come back next year to Europe and take some time during a spring break to see an AP show, I'll need to make some cash!

So I was thinking, either I'll help sell ice-cream in the summer (in one of those musical trucks, but really, I'm in earnest) or get hired as a lifeguard in a swimming pool... I did receive training for it, and it's a good job, with a lot of responsibility and such. But I'm still tempted to help sell ice-cream.
Animals CD review

My favorite part was this bit by the second of the three reviewers:

"Musically, the Animals were driven far more by keyboards than by guitar, and Alan Price was the driving force in their sound. Switching between organ and piano, Price was without peer as a rock keyboardist until the advent of The Band and before the degradation of the organ by pretentious performers like Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson. No keyboard work in anything by Yes or ELP or ELO can even remotely match the simplicity, passion, and musicianship that one finds in the Animals finest songs."

I've found one of the songs Alan sang in Don't Look Back. It's Little Things by Dave Berry. But before this one Alan was trying to sing another song, it's jolly and sounds funny. I managed to hear his 'oh me, oh my' but that's all!

I'd really like to listen to the original, though I can't understand a word he's saying :(

It's about 2m30

http://s897.photobucket.com/albums/ac174...okback.flv

Does anyone knows that song?
