I'm on the point of applying for WWU; things are going great and all of a sudden I'm getting weird student mail from people I don't know, Bible lectures and yes... floral casseroles! It's all connected with the University because it's coming in official enveloppes ('official' to be revised...)

Does this happen often? Who's got kids in college who received this sort of junk?

My son recently entered college and I don't remember him receiving junk mail through the college. Mind you, his school has only 2500 students so maybe it's less of a target for spammers. I think you should let the college know. They certainly won't want to be associated with this sort of thing.

That's what I did this afternoon, I took the time to write them a full letter explaining my utter confusion and disbelief^^ They're supposed to be a serious college- someone in the Students Association must be pulling a funny prank on newly accepted freshmen; next thing you know they'll be sending me an invitation to the annual Bunnies International Easter parade or some dang thing that has nothing to do with college.
Or weave baskets. Or sign up for canine surgery.

Where is WWU, lullaby?

Dub Dub U is one of the four main Universities in Washington State. This one, known as Western WA. University, is in Bellingham, Whatcom county. It's a very good and serious school, it's not as big as the University of Washington in Seattle and it's closer to the family house where my grandmother lives. I'll be staying with her during my college years in Western.

Too bad it's the other side of the country from me!

The United States are too big... just too big!
Although it's an immensely exciting prospect of a road trip! I'm already thinking of doing a Tour du South and even around New England when I get a car and find the time.
